I’m living in an off-grid home right now, out in the desert not far from the Mexican border. Very quiet and somewhat isolated. There are animals staying there, including a half-bobcat who appears and disappears like a black eidolon, mostly at night. One of the three dogs is fit for long walks, so [...] Looks like it might stick this time. Up in the mountains the ground is still soft in places from snowmelt, one of the springs along the Faulty Trail is now a creek with small waterfalls and gurgles, and the birds sound more sanguine. Hiked for miles up there and met one other hiker and [...] Even though summer is over around here, the highs are still right around 100, and nature keeps taking advantage.
